A Cheek Lift is a solution for patients that have dropped cheeks and possibly some excess skin that should be removed to get an improved appearance. The Cheek Lift involves an invasive surgery and may cause scars, so many patients will want to consider a few non invasive options. Dermal fillers may have similar effects as a Cheek Lift, but the effects will be less durable.
Hylaform is a dermal filler that employs hyaluronic acid. The treatment may be available as Hylan B in some plastic surgery clinics. Hylaform is an injectible solution that will add more volume. If injected in the cheek area, it will have the effects of a Cheek Lift: will give volume, reduce wrinkles and remove excessive skin by filling the areas under the skin. The hyaluronic acid will bind with the water molecules under the skin and will keep the volume of the cheeks for longer. The hyaluronic acid is a substance that is naturally produced in the body, so patients can get the Hylaform treatment without prior allergy testing.
Hylaform is more advantageous than Cheek Lift, as it will be performed as an outpatient procedure. It doesn’t require surgery and will involve minimal recovery time. The treatment should be repeated after a few months, as the effects of Hylaform will disappear as the hyaluronic acid is slowly absorbed in the body.
Juvederm® is a similar treatment, comparable to Hylaform. Juvederm® will stimulate the collagen in the cheeks and will have a gentle skin tightening effect. The hyaluronic acid can give volume and give a more youthful appearance to the face, just like a Cheek Lift surgery.
Prelevelle Silk also uses hyaluronic acid and is injected in the desired areas on the face to fill wrinkles and add volume. It may be used as a Cheek Lift substitute. However, all dermal fillers can only give a limited amount of volume to the face, so patients that have a sunken face may not get the best possible results.
Restylane and Perlane
Restylane and Perlane also contain hyaluronic acid and may be chosen by some patients. The difference between the many hyaluronic acid dermal fillers is the size of the molecules. Perlane is the filler with the largest sized molecules.
Zyplast is a bovine collagen dermal filler. Nowadays, patients tend to get less and less animal collagen based treatments, as these can cause allergic reactions and will require a set of tests before the actual treatment.
Artefill is similar to Zyplast and is also based on bovine collagen. The formula and the size of the collagen molecules will differ. Both Zyplast and Artefill tighten the skin and may be an alternative for a Cheek Lift.
Cosmoderm is a dermal filler that is prepared from synthetic ingredients that mimic human collagen. The product doesn’t require testing prior to the injections in the face, as the injectible solution is well received by the human body.
