If you're considering a breast lift, you should explore all of your options before you make your decision. There are a number of similar treatments and alternatives for the procedure that you might consider instead.

Breast Augmentation

Sometimes performed in conjunction with the breast lift, the breast augmentation can also be an option on its own. A breast augmentation makes your breasts larger and/or fuller with the use of implants. A lift won't always make your breasts larger or fuller at the top on its own.

Sometimes, if your breasts droop, augmentation may be all you need, especially if your areolae and nipples are in a prime position in which they can easily be placed in the center of your augmented breasts. However, if your areolae face downward and/or are located on the end of cone-shaped breasts, augmentation may not be enough and you may need the lift anyway.

Breast Reduction

If you're considering a breast lift because your sagging or drooping breasts cause excess strain on your back and shoulders, you may be best served by breast reduction instead. Part of the reason your breasts may droop is because of excess tissue. When that tissue is removed, your breasts may naturally lift and become more self-supportive. However, depending on the amount of tissue extracted and the position of your areolae, you may have to have a lift performed in conjunction with the reduction. Nevertheless, if you can get comfortable and attractive results with just a reduction, you can save yourself money and excess recovery.

Push-up Bra

Although not a permanent solution by any means, if you're adverse to having a breast lift because you don't want to go under the knife or make changes to your body, a well-fitting push-up bra can give you the same results instantaneously for a much smaller price and without as many potential negative side effects as a lift or other similar treatments. A push-up bra will lift your breasts, helping the tops seem fuller.

The only negative side effects of wearing a push-up bra may include soreness and tenderness in the breasts, but if you experience that problem, you may not be wearing the right size and should ask a undergarment professional to fit you. You can also reduce the amount of time you wear it (wearing it only for social occasions or while at away from home, for example) to reduce any soreness.

Stick-on Bra Cups

When you want your back and/or shoulders exposed, a push-up bra isn't always an option. However, if you don't want to spend the money on a lift or another permanent treatment or you're leery of surgical treatment, you can opt for stick-on bra cups. These cups can push up your breasts and give you a fuller-looking top. However, they may be less comfortable than a full supportive bra and should be used only occasionally.

If, after comparing the alternatives to a breast lift procedure, you decide that the lift is the best option for you, you'll at least know that you've taken the time to consider your other options. Be sure to discuss the lift and similar treatments with your cosmetic specialist to make sure you're a good candidate for the procedures.
