The Breast Augmentation surgery is a procedure that is chosen by women that would like to have a larger cup size. The procedure may be performed in different ways, and it involves adding implants that will make the breasts larger. Breast Lift
A breast lift may be performed in combination with a Breast Augmentation. Typically, the plastic surgeon will rearrange the areola and the nipples during the Breast Augmentation procedure, as the new size of the breasts will require a repositioning of these.
However, the patient may also opt for a more complex breast lift. The plastic surgeon may easily combine these 2 surgeries and the Breast Augmentation will be performed before the breast lift. The combined procedures may take 2 to 3 hours, depending on how complex the surgery is.
Benelli Lift
The Benelli Lift is a procedure that is similar to a breast lift, but it is recommended for patients with smaller sized breasts. If the patient opts for smaller implants and would also like a breast lift, the plastic surgeon may recommend a Benelli Lift instead of a traditional breast lift.
Traditional Liposuction
The traditional liposuction may be combined with a Breast Augmentation procedure, if the patient has a surplus of weight. The liposuction will be performed before placing the breast implants, and the plastic surgeon may use the incisions required for liposuction to place the implants, resulting in fewer scars.
The traditional liposuction is an invasive procedure that is recommended if there are high amounts of fat to be removed. The procedure may cause bruising and requires a longer recovery period, but the patient may recover within 2 to 3 weeks. The same amount of time is required to recover from the Breast Augmentation surgery.
Less Invasive Liposuction Treatments
If the patient considers weight reduction and the amount of surplus weight is less than 20 pounds, the plastic surgeon may recommend a few less invasive liposuction treatments that will cause fewer side effects that the traditional liposuction. Slim Lipo, ProLipo, PureLipo and Smartlipo MPX are just a few laser slimming techniques that can reduce fat.
Any of the above mentioned liposuction treatments will be performed prior to the Breast Augmentation surgery, so that the surgeon knows where to place the implants, according to the new figure of the patient. Some plastic surgeons will prefer to wait between the procedures so that the patient’s body adjusts to the new weight.
Other surgeons will perform the Breast Augmentation immediately after the liposuction treatment, as there will be some excess skin, and this will prevent the formation of stretch marks on the skin when the implants are added.
