A Breast Lift may have a lot of benefits, improving the appearance of saggy breasts. The breasts may become saggy due to aging, after one or several pregnancies, or after constant weight variations. The Breast Lift is performed by repositioning the nipple and the areola and possibly removing some excess breast tissue. If you are also considering other plastic surgeries, you may talk to your plastic surgeon to combine these with the Breast Lift surgery. You may combine Breast Lift with breast augmentation, breast reduction or different methods of liposuction, and you can cut down on surgery costs, plus you will only have 1 recovery period and fewer risks associated with repeated surgeries.
Breast Augmentation
The breast augmentation procedure will increase the size of your chest by placing 2 silicone implants under the skin. The breast augmentation will be performed prior to the Breast Lift procedure, so that the plastic surgeon will be able to see where the nipple should go after adding to the size of the breasts. You will only have 1 set of scars. Even if when performed in 2 separate surgeries, the surgeon will cut on the same scar paths. The scars and the neighboring skin may thicken if operated on for the second time.
Breast Reduction
If you are not satisfied with the size of your breasts and would like to reduce their size, this may also be done in combination with the Breast Lift surgery. The plastic surgeon will first remove the excess fat and breast tissue, and then will establish the right position of the areola and the nipple. The duration of the surgery may be longer, given that 2 surgeries are performed, but the anesthetic will be effective. Another benefit of combining 2 surgeries is that only 1 anesthesia should be performed. General anesthesia has increased risks and if 1 anesthesia can be avoided, this is highly recommended.
Traditional Liposuction
Liposuction may be applied in the breast area to remove excess tissue, but may also be applied on the stomach or neck, which are closer to the breast area. Traditional liposuction is only recommended if there are large amounts of adipose tissue that should be removed. Typically, less invasive liposuction techniques are more recommended for the breast area.
More Advanced Liposuction Techniques
There are a number of more advanced liposuction treatments that are not as aggressive as traditional liposuction and may be combined with a Breast Lift. These procedures may be assisted by liquid (i.e. Body Jet Liposuction), lasers (i.e. Smart Lipo, ProLipo, Cool Lipo) or by ultrasounds (i.e. Vaser Liposelection). These procedures will also have a skin tightening effect and will help the regeneration of tissues by making the body produce collagen. Consequently, the effects of the Breast Lift will be more dramatic and longer lasting.
Combining the Breast Lift with an additional procedure is practical and recommended to spare your body from the trauma of undergoing 2 separate surgeries.
