Gastroplasty, more commonly known as Stomach Stapling, is a surgical procedure that will reduce the size of the stomach so that the patient eats less and loses weight gradually. The procedure is recommended if the patient needs to lose a lot of weight. The Stomach Stapling surgery may be combined with other surgeries or cosmetic procedures, so that the patient can lose weight faster and enjoy a new life.

Stomach Stapling is a procedure that won’t have immediate results, as it won’t actually eliminate fat, but will reduce the size of the stomach so that the patient will eat less. If fewer calories are consumed per day, the patient will lose weight gradually and may eliminate the unwanted in a few months or years, depending on how much fat there is to eliminate.

Liposuction

Stomach Stapling is an option for obese people that cannot undergo liposuction surgery, as surgery may be dangerous. However, after losing some weight, patients of Stomach Stapling may benefit from a liposuction procedure, to eliminate the fat faster. There are a number of liposuction techniques that are available, and the surgeon may recommend newer techniques that will also give a slight skin lift, as the skin may get saggy after major weight loss. Traditional liposuction may also be applied, but this won’t have a skin tightening effect and will require a long recovery time. On the other hand, the traditional liposuction will extract the greatest possible amount of fat, giving the patient the best possible results.

Body Lift

After losing a lot of fat, patients may experience saggy skin all over the body. The skin should tighten naturally, but if the patient is older or the weight loss is too great, there may be a lot of excess skin remaining. A body lift is the most recommended procedure that will eliminate the redundant skin, so that the patient will look fit and have firm skin. The excess skin will be eliminated from all areas of the body including the stomach, arms, legs, back and neck. The body lift is a complex surgery and will leave scars.

Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck may be used to reduce fat and excess skin from the patient’s abdominal area. This surgery may be combined with Stomach Stapling, but should be applied after the patient loses some weight.

Arm Lift

Arm surgery is an alternative to a body lift, especially if the patient has most of the excess skin on the arms. The arm lift is an invasive surgery that causes scarring.

Thigh Lift

If the patient has excess skin in the thigh area after losing weight, the plastic surgeon may recommend a thigh lift. This procedure can also cause scarring, but will give a firmer appearance to the thighs.

Skin Resurfacing

The Stomach Stapling surgery will leave scars, and if the patient opts for other additional surgeries, such as a tummy tuck or an arm lift, the scars may be upsetting. A skin resurfacing procedure can reduce the appearance of scars.
