An endoscopic browlift is a fairly simple procedure used to lift the eyebrows in order to give them a more youthful look. The eyes are a very sensitive area of the face and often show the wear and tear put on the body. As the body ages, many parts of it begin to sag including the eyebrows. An endoscopic browlift can help reduce the signs of aging by giving a more youthful appearance. The browlift can also help with other problems such as uneven eyebrows which can be inherited from your parents.
Consultation
If you think you want a brow lift, you will need to find out if you are a good candidate for the surgery. Your doctor will begin an evaluation of your face to determine what the problem is and why it is happening. This will allow him to determine if an endoscopic browlift is the right procedure. The best candidates for this procedure are those who have low eyebrows, excess skin above the on the eyelids, or those who uneven eyebrows. Many people who suffer from low brow lines often appear sad, angry, or mad. In addition to these symptoms, you must also be healthy enough to undergo anesthesia. If it is determined that you are a good candidate, then you will be scheduled for surgery.
The Procedure
Before the procedure is started, you will be placed under general anesthesia so you will not feel anything during the procedure. Then the surgeon will begin by making small incisions along the hairline. These incisions are usually one half inch each. Then the endoscope, which is a small camera that portrays the tissues and muscles, is inserted into one of these incisions. The surgeon will insert a tool into another incision which allows him to lift the skin and modify the muscles in the forehead. In some cases, the surgeon can place an Endotine which takes the place of sutures or stitches. The Endotine is placed under the skin and then dissolves over time. After the surgery is complete, you will be taken to a recovery room to allow some of the anesthesia to wear off and then you can go home.
The Recovery
The recovery time with an endoscopic browlift is very minimal. After your surgery, you will be released to go home and rest. You should be able to return to work within a couple of days as long as your job is not physical. You may experience some swelling and bruising on the forehead. You may also experience headaches after surgery. Any of the discomfort you may develop can be relieved by taking pain killers, which your doctor will most likely prescribe to you. Your incisions should heal within a week to 10 days. It is important to keep the incision site clean and dry to prevent an infection from developing. If you do begin to develop an infection, you should call your doctor.
If you are looking for procedure to help your brow line, talk to your doctor to determine if an endoscopic browlift is right for you.
