Rumor Has It... A Do-Over for Jordan
Lovely lady and lucky wife, Jordan "Katie" Price, aka pin-up & tabloid star, aka Mrs Peter Andre (he's a UK-based Australian pop star...) has no problem with public announcements regarding her "private parts." At a recent appearance to launch a book of hers, Jordan announced intentions to submit to a fixer-upper treat for hubby, after she's delivered their third baby. "A real treat for Pete" is her reasoning for wanting to "be a virgin again," as she expressed plans to have vaginal rejuvenation surgery.

An End to Baldness?
The fascinating cure-finding just never ends. It seems that one day, even baldness may be something that no one has to live with unless they just want to be smoothy and shiny up-top. A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology (official journal of the European Society for Cosmetic and Aesthetic Dermatology) used identical twins with male pattern hair loss (known technically as androgenetic alopecia) to explore the efficacy of dutasteride, a particular enzyme inhibitor, as a means of reducing hair loss and encouraging new growth. Because of their identical genetics, twins make great scientific study subjects. In this research, for example, one twin took the medication while the other took a placebo. Hair loss, measured at 6-month and 12-month intervals, was found to have halted and hair growth to have improved in the twins who'd used dutasteride. Meanwhile, the twins on placebo continued to lose hair. In this article on the American Hair Loss Association site, dutasteride is described as being a "promising" treatment manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline, sold under the brand name Avodart. The article's author also states the opinion that dutasteride will provide better results for women's hair loss than "any other medication currently available."

Boost Your Breasts, Boost Your Self-Esteem
No, really. And this study was not conducted by plastic surgeons! Dr. Cynthia Figueroa-Haas, a clinical professor of nursing at the University of Florida, talked to 84 women as part of her doctoral research. She wanted to document what had already occurred to her when she worked for a cosmetic surgeon. She asked the women about self-esteem & sexuality perceptions, before and after breast augmentation. It turns out that men aren't the only ones who get a lift out of bigger breasts. In Figueroa-Haas' study, the average participant experienced both increased self-esteem and sexual function following augmentation. She remarked in a report for ThirdAge.com that even patients who went only from an A cup to a B experienced noticeable change in self-perception. She feels like her study is not only helpful for other nurses who work with patients utilizing cosmetic surgery, but that it provides balance against the myriad advertisements and social attention paid to men's sexuality issues as compared to women's.
