Wounded Soldiers to Speak about Reconstructive Surgery

Most of the plastic surgery that we hear about is cosmetic surgery done for the purpose of improving the appearance. However, a large percentage of the plastic surgery that is done throughout the world is reconstructive surgery designed to repair the appearance of someone who has been injured. A large number of the people who are getting this type of plastic surgery are soldiers who have been wounded in war.

Although some soldiers have spoken to the press about the reconstructive surgery that they have had done, this is not usually a primary topic of the conversation. It may be mentioned in passing as a general discussion about their experiences. However, two soliders wounded in Iraq are going to be available to speak with the media this week about experiences with reconstructive surgery.

In addition to the insights available from the soldiers themselves, it will be possible to gain insight into this type of plastic surgery from the surgeons who have worked with them as they will also be present for the media inquiries. Learn more about the reason that they are speaking out here.
