Growing demand in India for cosmetic surgery is making Bollywood’s backdrop the new “it” place for nips, tucks and pricks. Indian plastic surgeons have reported an all time high in numbers, with more people queuing up for Botox injections, breast augmentations, liposuction and facelifts. Though India, much like other countries in the world is succumbing to the credit crunch, people in Mumbai and Delhi are investing in appearance rather than stocks. Perhaps investing in good looks has a better outcome than the market.
Much of the hype is due in part to Bollywood actors sizzling up their looks for the big screen, with hopes of competing with plastic junkies in Hollywood and the UK. The notion of cosmetic enhancement is far more acceptable in Indian culture nowadays, with the emergence and subsequent fanaticism of Bollywood.
