Asian-American’s make up an ever increasing majority opting for plastic surgery. Typically the infamous eye-lid surgery is the most requested among Asian patients. However, recent numbers suggest that rhinoplasty is becoming the leading surgery for young Asians. Reports say that the most sought out nose-enhancement is the reshaping of the bridge. The stereotypical Asian nose has a “wide bridge and flat nasal tip." Which is why so many are seeking out surgery that will give them a higher shaped bridge. When restructuring the bridge, surgeons insert a piece of silicone above the natural bridge to push out the nose further away from the face.
As for patients seeking nose-tip reconstruction, surgeon’s goal is to develop a smaller more defined tip in order to reduce the nostrils from flaring. In doing so cartilage is used for reshaping of the tip. Regardless of the recovery and possible problems, these two surgeries have become the common trends in rhinoplasty for Asian patients.
