Gastric bypass surgery works by shrinking the stomach and allowing food to bypass part of the small intestine. During the surgery your stomach is made smaller by using surgical staples that create a small pouch at the top of the stomach. The smaller portion of the stomach is attached to the middle portion of the small intestine.

• You may experience nausea, weakness, sweating, and diarrhea

What can I eat?

• Numerous small meals throughout the day

• Drink lots and lots of fluids, but sip your drinks and don't drink fluids with your meals or before your meals

• No fried foods or junk food like potato chips, candy bars, cakes, cookies, etc

• Eat healthy fruits and vegetables

• Lean protein

How much weight will I lose?
