Lip Augmentation Surgery

So you hate all of the fine lines and wrinkles around you lips and you want to improve the way that they look by augmentation surgery, as long as you have realistic expectation of the final results you will make a good candidate for lip augmentation surgery. You may also wish to try an injectable filler.

An injectable filler application is done only as an outpatient, right in your doctor's office, but a local anesthesia will be used to make you more comfortable during the procedure.

Different types of injectable fillers

• Artecoll

• Autologen

• Bovine Collagen

• Dermalogen

• HylaForm

• Restylane

• Juvaderm

Implants are performed under local anesthesia and can take a couple of hours, but these are done in your physician's office as well, depending on how complex the surgery you will be sent home the same day.

Types of implants

• Alloderm

• Fascia

• Fat injection

• Fat grafting

• Gore-Tex

• Local flap grafts

These implants usually last only 12 months. Your surgeon will need to make tiny incisions on the inside part of your lip where the implants will be inserted. If you having a gore-tex implant, these are permanent and will last a lifetime unless you have the graft removed.

The recovery period really depends on the procedure that you had done and you and your lifestyle. But for most people having lip augmentation surgery they are fine within a day or two. You will probably still experience some swelling and bruising that may last up to two weeks, this may make you feel a little self-conscious in public. It is also recommended that you don't exercise for a couple of weeks after your procedure.
