So you need a pacemaker and you're not sure what it is or what pacemaker surgery entails. Well, a pacemaker is implanted into the body permanently it is a small battery-powered device. This handy little device monitors the electrical impulses in the heart and, when needed, delivers electrical stimuli to make the heart beat at a normal rhythm.

If you have been diagnosed with bradycardia, a slow heart beat or arrhythmias, abnormal heart beats then chances are you will need a pacemaker. Pacemakers can also be used to treat certain symptoms of heart failure.
