Vaginal rejuvenation is a cosmetic surgery that combines labiaplasty and vaginoplasty. A vaginal rejuvenation is performed to restore or improve the appearance and/or function of your vagina. When your vagina relaxes, your muscles are relaxed and have poor tone, strength, and control. The muscles of the perineum are weak and poorly supported. Under these circumstances, the vagina is no longer at its peak performance level. As a result, the sensual side of sexual gratification is diminished. The combination of the two surgeries can usually be done at the same time providing you with an enhanced labia and a tightened vagina during one visit.
Vaginal rejuvenation is for:
• women who suffer from stress incontinence
• women who want to increase their sexual pleasure
• women whose vaginal areas have stretched due to
pregnancies or aging
• women who have experienced vaginal trauma
• women who want their labial lips reduced, enhanced or re-shaped
• women who want to reconstruct their hymen to its original state
• women whose vaginal size is not totally compatible with their partner's penis size
Laser vaginal rejuvenation lasts 1-2 hours and is an outpatient procedure. The benefits are minimal bleeding, rapid healing and nominal recovery time. This procedure effectively enhances vaginal muscle tone, strength and control. It also decreases the internal and external vaginal diameters as well as builds up and strengthens the perienal body.
This procedure is usually performed under a general anesthetic, which means that you are not awake during the surgery. If you want to have a spinal or epidural anesthesia instead, you can, or you can choose an intravenous sedation or even local anesthesia.
After the operation your surgeon will give you a prescription for painkillers and Valium too if necessary. You can be back to work within 5 to 7 days. After the procedure there is no sex for about six weeks.
Like any surgery, these procedures have risks. Serious risks include painful scarring or nerve damage that could result in loss of sensation and hypersensitivity. Another risk is over-tightening of the vaginal walls which can result in painful intercourse.
