Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery

This procedure is usually done as an outpatient procedure. Anesthesia is usually local with sedation, but in some instances general anesthesia may be used. You may experience some temporary discomfort with swelling and bruising, temporary dryness, burning, itching and watering eyes. You may also experience a sensitivity to light for a few weeks following your procedure.
Recovery
For the first 1-3 days following your surgery you may experience some mild to moderate pain and discomfort, but your surgeon will provide you with prescription pain medication that you can take if necessary. Your stitches will be removed about a week after your procedure. Bruising and swelling may remain for 1-2 weeks. If you wear contact lenses you won't be able to start wearing them again for 7-10 days following your surgery depending on your comfort level. And you shouldn't wear any make-up before your stitches are removed.
