If you have a vagina defect, including weak muscles, poor tone, and flaccid skin, then a cosmetic surgical procedure vaginoplasty or more specifically, vaginal tightening surgery may be for you.
Whether from age, childbirth, or caused by injury, the inside and outside diameter of your vagina has increased. The muscles in the perineum area of your genitalia, which is from the front of the anus to the posterior skin of the vulva, have become loose. Unfortunately, stimulation arising from sexual intercourse is reduced due to this condition, affecting both you and your mate.
The Procedure
A vaginal tightening procedure involves the surgical refining of skin and muscle that surgically tightens both vaginal muscles and the surrounding soft tissues. The result is an immediate decrease in the size of vaginal muscle. Any incisions made to tighten the vaginal wall during surgery will not be outwardly visible and will be well hidden inside the vagina.
This procedure is usually performed under general anesthetic, meaning that you will be asleep, although in carefully selected cases it can be performed under local anesthetic which means that you would be awake and the area operated on would just be numb.
A typical vaginal tightening procedure will take around 1 hour to perform and patients usually stay in hospitals for 24 hour following surgery.
Following Surgery
Following a vaginal tightening procedure incision areas are often quite tender for several weeks following surgery. Pain medication is provided for any discomfort and you will be encouraged to get plenty of rest in their early recovery stage, to help diminish residual swelling.
Every surgeon's technique can differ slightly and vaginal wounds can be closed with fine sutures that need removing 7-10 days after surgery or with stitches that gradually dissolve of their own accord.
Any post-operative discomfort tends to diminish rapidly after the sutures are removed or dissolve. In the early days following discharge, you will be advised to avoid any level of activity that will put undue strain on the areas operated upon and to especially avoid sex or the use of tampons for six weeks after surgery.
You will also be advised to take a specific amount of recovery time away from work, dependent on the type of work that you do, but it is usual to take around a week off to rest and recover at home.
