Double Chin Exercises

As people age, they tend to become more and more dissatisfied with one aspect or another of their appearance including the chin area. Looking in the mirror becomes a drudgery because of the wrinkles, fat pockets, folds and rolls. There are lotions and creams and even double chin exercises that you can do to help diminish the signs of aging, but the reality is if you really want to get rid of your double chin then you may want to consider a cosmetic procedure called neck sculpturing for a permanent solution.

Neck Sculpturing

Neck sculpturing maximizes the definition between your chin and neck by removing excess fat beneath the skin and, as needed, tightening of the sagging neck muscle. Success depends on the neck skin having enough elasticity to retract and re-drape adequately after sculpturing. Candidates who respond the best to this treatment are those who have inherited their double chin or for those people who, have lost a lot of weight, but still retain a neckline that is poorly defined. The skin and underlying tissue above the jaw are not affected. A chin implant can provide you with a more significant profile and can be inserted during the same procedure. General anesthesia is normally used and the procedure takes about 1 hour.

After the Procedure

A small suction tube will be placed under your skin in the lower neck, to help reduce swelling and bruising. The small suction tube will be removed the day following your surgery. Stitches are removed from the hidden, under-the-chin incision between with 4-7 days following your procedure.

You should be able to return to work within a week of the procedure. If you are experiencing bruising, it can be concealed with make-up. Your neck may feel tight and your movement may be limited for a few days. You won't be able to drive your car for 1 week, but can resume mild exercise like walking after the first couple of days.

Numbness around the chin and upper neck will normally dissipate after the first week. Your incision will still feel a little lumpy, but this is normal. If you have a chin implant inserted, your lower lip may also be stiff for about a week following your procedure.
