How to Prepare for a Tummy Tuck

You can't even imagine what it would be like to have a flat, smooth midsection. Over the years, the pounds have been piling on, and you can't even remember the last time you saw your toes – really saw them. You've tried exercising, but nothing really seems to work.

So, you've decided to get a tummy tuck, hoping that it will solve all of your problems. You've done some initial research, and were astounded at the before and after photos. However, before you go rushing out the door to find the nearest tummy tuck office, be aware that unless you saw those pictures on a reputable website, there is a chance that the photos were edited.

Of course, then there's the whole issue of finding a reputable surgeon to do the tummy tuck. A good rule of thumb to follow is that any candidate you're considering should have been in surgical training for at least five years, two of which should have been dedicated to plastic surgery specifically. Also, the doctor should have an accreditation from The American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Many people have indeed benefited from getting a tummy tuck – both their appearance and their self-esteem was improved. However, it is important to mention that there are numerous side effects to this procedure. They include nerve damage, blood clots, and scarring. So, when it comes time for you to have a consultation, make sure that you ask any additional questions that you might have. Never go into any surgical procedure without the proper information.
