About Breast Lift
Breast lift or a mastopexy is a surgical procedure to raise and reshape skin that has lost its elasticity in the breasts. Mastopexy can also reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple. Breasts that have lost volume or elasticity due to aging, mastectomy, pregnancy, or other life events can use breast implants in conjunction with mastopexy to tone and alter the shape of the breasts. The procedure can help to tighten and firm breast skin and tissue yet over time, gravity and aging skin can still affect skin elasticity.
Candidates for this procedure should be physically healthy and realistic in their expectations. This cosmetic procedure can be done using local anesthesia and sedation or with general anesthesia. The procedure itself typically takes about two hours to perform, along with an additional two hours spent in recovery.
