Let us first answer a question with a question...do you stimulate your labia minora for sexual arousal? I didn't think so... I have yet to meet the patient who does. Most women feel sexual arousal upon stimulation of the clitoris and not the labia. If the surgery is done correctly labia reduction should have no affect on the sexual sensitivity of the female genitals. The problem with making blanket statements about the risks of the surgery, especially cosmetic surgery, is the surgery is only as good as the SURGEON performing the procedure. If the surgeon is not VERY experienced and does not have excellent technique...his/her rate of complications increases. The number one problem associated with labiaplasty are poor cosmetic results. Many time patients get complete amputation of their labia and have minimal or no labia minora after their so called labia reduction procedure. Choose your surgeon carefully!
